With covid still among us and businesses unsure about if they shoul,d or could take out their staff for christmas, this year has seen a rise in people hiring marquees for such events and having them installed on their work site.
This is one we done for a local company, in Wareham, who were using it in conjunction with some of their unit space to host their xmas party. This post will guide you through the process in the format of a case study.
When we install small marquees for things like this and garden parties, it is a break from the normal wedding marquee scene we find ourselves in through out the summer months, and I like it. For some reason the sites we pitch the smaller structures on tend to be more challenging or at the least different then your stand grass lawn or field most marquees get installed on.
The site here was slightly larger than the 6m wide marquee we ended up erecting, approximately 6.5m, so the 6m frame was to be a perfect fit and the only real option.
Pitching on tarmac meant we couldn’t stake in as we would normally when pitching on grass. The solution here was to use weights because the client was not able to permit us to drill and bolt. Whats more is they have plenty of ballast we could use already on site, saving a bit of money on the bill, and a kind man in their fork lift who was happy to position each of them where we needed them.
As this was a staff event the timing meant it was to take place towards the end of the working day on a Friday. This meant installing on the Thursday towards the end of the day to keep disruption to a minimum and taking down as soon as they had finished with the marquee on the Friday.
The overall build was a simply one. Access to the site couldn’t of been better. We were able to park right next to the install. The marquee was just frame and covers and then festoon lighting was added which always looks good. Finally trestle tables and folding wooden chairs were supplied and the complete package was delivered and installed in little over 2 hours.
